I got a pretty nasty cut on my leg a week ago tonight and it's still pretty nasty. It still open but on the inside it looks healed after I washed the crusty puss away. There's inflamation around the cut and it's a tad painful when touched or streched when I move my leg.

Please help me. I'm a single teenager living by himself in a strange town.

You can see a picture of the cut at

I know it's blurry but my camera sucks.

Thank you in advance for any help you can be.

It's infected. You can try soaking it in hydrogen peroxide to see if it will drain...you can tell because bubbles will start coming out of it. Once no more bubbles come out, pat it dry and cover the entire cut with antibacterial ointment (neosporin, lanabiotic, etc) and with a bandaid or gauze pad. Check it tomorrow and if it's not looking better, see a doctor.

If there are any red streaks coming from it or you're running a fever, see a doctor right away.

Next time you get a cut, clean it and put neosporin and a bandaid on it right away...it's worth the few minutes of effort.

It appears infected. Whenever there is puss/oozing from an open wound such as this, antibiotics are necessary. You should be cleaning it with warm water (not directly into the cut, but let it run over it), then pat dry. Next, place some antibiotic cream/ointment over the wound and then cover it lightly with a non-stick gauze/bandaid. Check every 12 hrs or so, keep washing it and dressing it until the wound is no longer oozing. The let the remainder heal via air. But wash and dress the wound daily or every 12 hours in the meantime.
See a doctor if you can though for oral antibotics to prevent a secondary infection. If the cut was received via some type of metal, you may need a tetnus shot as well. Hope you feel better.

Delayed healing is one of the consequences of infection, which will show itself in the form of pain on pressure, reddness, swelling and yellow-green discharge. You must see your GP now to do you a wound-swab for proper antibiotic cover, inaddition to frequet dressing. Wish you very rapid recovery.

I would go to the doctor, and have it checked out. This way you are not taking any chances on infection. If there is substance coming out of the cut, then most likely it is infected and you need to get it treated right away.

Assuming you're question is legit and not some crude voyeur thing, it's pretty amazing what you can find when you type that exact question into Google. And you don't have to wait for people to reply or deal with smart A$$ remarks like mine.

If it hurts to the touch is a good sign. If it is also is discharging puss, it's infected. The red swelling is also a red flag.

it looks like it might be. if it's a GIANT HUGE half the size of your leg cut i would say maybe go see a dr, if its a tiny scartchy like cut....wash it out really well with some anti-bacterial soap and throw neosporan on it. make sure it gets time to air out and dry up everyonce in awhile.

Sounds like things are healing normally. Signs of infection include: redness or swelling, particularly if it is increasing; pain, ditto; elevated temperature.

You need to use an antibacterial ointment on it. If it's really bad and you cut yourself on something rusty, you need to see a doctor. They can give you antibiotics and a Tetanus shot, that is if you needed one.

If there's puss it's infected. Get some neosporin to put on it if you can't go to doctor.
