Seemingly, time travel would give us a chance to wipe out pass mistakes, but it also means it would mess up the chain of causity, which is what defines our very world now. If ANYTHING is changed in the past (even you being there as you are an additional pack of atoms), drawing upon chaos theory (butterfly effect), a smallest change can have a huge impact to the world, therefore if time travel is avalible, it would be quite chaotic.

Moreover, if is really possible in the future, it would mean that we are already affected now, as the effect affects the cause when it can make changes to the cause itself. It may well also open up (or has opened up already) different dimensions of time and space as parallell universes would come into existence.

Yes, because if you go back to the past you will disturb something, and there would be strange consequences : go back and make Hitler a great artist instead of a frustrated artist and a dictator: do you think there would not have been a World War 2 ?
Or if you have child, or if you cut a flower ?
For a good philosophical view about this subject you can read Asimov "The end of eternity" where the heroes go back to the past and do minimal changes with maximum effects, so to save humanity.

It already does all the time but we don't notice because it keep changes in the time line.and in different dimensions. that parallel with each other because the space aliens did something to the time machine made about four million years from now then it returned aaaaaaaand went to a million years ago then an alligator ate it.and it just keeps on going in cycles other and over just because of that damn gator.and I have tried to keep up but am now decided to just stay in the year four thousand and twenty six indefinitely.because of this girl who likes it here.and she is real sweet to me.and i invented a machine I and her can hid in to make it so that when time changes it doesn't effect US.just the world around us. Its really not so bad and though theres a lot of chaos. Yes.but when you get used to time travel.and hiding from it with your girlfriend. It seems OK.I hope this is a satisfactory answer.ow and you think you can fix past mistakes , WRONG. it always backfires.

Yes, it would allow us to fix mistakes and such but, every ones idea of what is or isn't a mistake is different. Imagine waking up each day to a changed world. It would be beyond chaos, and remember, each tiny decision affects so many larger ones. Its a good thing that we are unable to do this, everything happens for a reason, regardless of whether it's good or bad.

I do not think that the time travel chaos would be any worse than the current one already plaguing our world.

no, it would have the possibility of creating more alternate universes though. I think this world thrives on chaos.

Hello, Isaac.

Perhaps you should address that question to Asimov himself. He knows a lot about the paradoxes of time travel.

Depends on who will travel... but i think everything is meant to be, be it good or bad. We just have to find the lesson on each turn on this life's circle...

But i still wonder if everything are predestined regarless of mans ability to have a choice thru their free will...
