Great President, or greatest President?

When Ronald Reagan was in office he was attacked by liberals and years later we finally realize he did a pretty darn good job. The economy was booming, the Cold War was over and Russia was under control.

I think Bush will be remember similar to that. I definitely dont think Bush is the greatest President...I'm a big fan but get real. Washington, Lincoln, Reagan....all i believe were better than Bush. However I think Bush really stepped up in America's time of need. Think about it, 9 months after coming into office he faces 9/11. He responded beautifully and swiftly. I think his Iraqi policy was a little flawed but you have to admit, we're down 1 dictator. I think we were actually much more civil than we should have been. If you remember, Moussalini was hung after WWII and then dragged through the streets of Italy. Iraq is disfunctional right now but we're not leaving until the job is done.

All that to say greatest...no way. Great....we'll see.

*sigh*.. hubby and I were discussing this the today. Instead of jumping on the liberal, media-fed, bandwagon here, I am going to say, "wait and see."

A lot of the things that Bush is doing are going to be looked at under a different light in ten or twenty years. We honestly won't know until then how what we are doing today is going to affect the world later. The United States is so into the "quick fix" philosophy of life, that we can't perceive how something that happens now may play out in the far future. Right now there is civil war and unrest in the Middle East. Many of us hate Bush because of the war and the fact that "we want it all fixed now" We forget that civil war happened here too. Revolution happened here and in France and they were all long, bloody wars. But look at us now. It took a while for us to get on our feet, but eventually it happened. We don't know what will happen in the Middle East.

The flood in New Orleans had a WHOLE lot more to do with it than "George Bush hates black people". I mean, how much more ridiculous can we be? There were so many factors involved in that fiasco from every level (as is typical in all fiascos).

We also have a tendency to forget that there is a lot more to the United States government than the president. We are lazy and want that "quick fix" answer to all of our problems so we point the finger.

When Bill Clinton was president, the whole nation was bashing him for being a liar and sleeping around -because thats what the media reported on and thats what opposing politicians wanted you to know about him. Looking back, he wasn't such a bad president. There are things that he did well , and there are things that he could have done better. Same thing with most of our other presidents.

There is one thing I can say about Bush- he will always be remembered by me as a horrible public speaker.

To be honest we won't know for another twenty to thirty years.I remember when Reagan was in office and everyone was constantly complaining about how Reagan did this or Reagan did that but when he died many of the things he had put tigether had become great works that have helped our country alot.If you look at President Lyndon B. Johnson as a president now you rarely see the thing written about him that were written about him during Vietnam. Bush will be the same.It all depends on what happens after he leaves office on how he'll be remembered. He has overall as a President done his job as well as can be expected considering the things he has dealt with during his time in office. No other President has had the major socio/economic probelems or had to deal with our country being attacked at home that he has had to deal with since WWII.

Oh, please. The best we can refer to him as is "the dangerous moron." I was just today talking about flying on 9/10 and how 9/11 made a difference in our world... We had the entire world behind us and now we are globally despised. Need I say more?!! Everything that man has done - even the recent execution of the great dictator(!) - has been ill conceived and executed and an embarrassment to the intelligent citizens of this country.

The greatest President to have fought for the last oil reserves of the 21st century. After him and the passing of Peak oil and easy energy, the decline of Western nations will be the talk of centuries to come.

depends. obviously the iraq strategy was a blow to his ratings even though i personally support him. but you have to take into consideration the future: what if there was a large scale war in the middle east and we were in? lets say we were getting our asses kicked and a democratic iraq bailed us out? its possible. all things are possible. sometimes what people in the present see as failure, people in the future see as a strategic move. we have no clue what the future holds, therefore it is impossible to see how he will be viewed. i like him because he does what he feels is right and is a strong leader.
