The 1985 movie "The Emerald Forest" was advertised as being based on a true story. But I have never been able to find anything about the story behind the movie. Anyone know of a site that has facts about the real people and events that inspired the movie?

I have tried Google searches on names in the movie and such sites as IMDB. But all I can find are synopsis of the movie. Nothing about the factual events it's supposed to be based on.

I like the story so far. Who is the old friend? A friend of the family? Her mother's friend? Wouldn't her father search there first? The forest scene is a bit short. Maybe try adding some action to it. Maybe she meets some gruff character who turns out to be going to Norm for a different reason. Maybe they are someone mom sets out to guard her daughter in secret. or they just folow her allowing her to meet the man in the carriage but keeping her in sight. It could add suspense as well make the reader want to turn the page. Maybe have a bit of dad going nuclear exclaiming she cannot find out the truth. Again adds suspense. Maybe the girls has something that once belonged to her mom that isn't what it seems. It could appear to be a necklaçe but really be a key that unlocks something later on. Just a few ideas. The guy who Eregorn was only 19. So keep at it.

It seems a good idea, but... 1. Suggest you stay with Lucia's POV in first-person, the way you began that part. 1a. If you don't want to, suggest you write it all in third-person, the way you continued. 2. There are verb tense changes to edit. 3. If you want better feedback, Yahoo Answers isn't the place the get it. 4. Find an educated, impartial mentor to help you. 5. Also, look for an in-person writers' group. 5a. Call your local research librarian first and ask if s/he knows about one. 5b. Look in newspaper ads, local school bulletin boards or start your own. 5c. Writers' groups teach beginner writers a great deal. 5d. You'll learn "lit crit" and how to read your work aloud. 5e. Networking with other writers and sharing critiques helps everyone. 6. Another suggestion is that you read this aloud. 6a. Reading your work aloud often points out errors you missed. 7. Don't be discouraged. 7a. It takes time to learn how to write well. 8. If you like, get books about "How To Write." There are many. 8a. Several recommend Stephen King's "On Writing." It's pretty good and a fun read. 8b. There are still more. Ask a research librarian about them. Check them out there. Good luck. You can do it.
