Sohan Master had always aspired to become a popular television actor. After his ouster from Zee Cinestars Ki Khoj, he grabbed a cameo role on Paalkhi. In no time, he was seen playing Raghu in Remix (Star One).
Thodi Khushi Thode Gham (Sony) followed soon and the actor now claims to be contented with his portrayal of Ravi on the show. Here are ten things that you may want to know about him.
When is your birthday and what is your star sign?
August 25 and I’m a Virgo.
Do you believe in astrology and numerology?
I do follow the weekly forecast columns in different dailies, but I don’t have blind faith in it.
Where were you born and which school did you go to?
I was born in Surat and I went Bhulka Bhavan High School.
What was your first job? And how much was your first pay cheque?
I was working in All India Radio, and I had earned a meagre Rs 200.
One thing you are really bad at doing?
I cannot sing at all. You will never see me humming tunes, also.
What is your favourite smell?
The smell of mogra.
Where in Mumbai would you like to live?
I would prefer staying at Marine Lines.
What cell phone handset do you use?
I have an LG 8110.
What car do you use?
I drive a Maruti Alto.
What has been your most embarrassing moment?
I was among the top five contenders for Zee Cinestars Ki Khoj. I had seen myself becoming a winner and I had told my folks that I’d win it.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t make it and the I felt very embarrassed when I had to step out of the competition.

F irst, a new time slot and now a slew of new characters.
The new face in Remix-Sohan Master
Remix, the show with its crazy clutch of Maurya High denizens, has just introduced a new character. Sohan Master, one of the finalists of Zee India's Best Cinestar Ki Khoj enters the plot as Raghuram Deshpande, a Maharashtrian boy, who enters Maurya High. Says Sohan, "I belong to a lower middle class family, and my dad is a peon and my mom a sweeper. My character turns negative as I nurse this insecurity and an inferiority complex in front of the other guys in school, who are all big shots." This is not it. Raghuram will fall in love with Tia. "Yes, Tia will be my love interest. I will also form a gang against the famous guys of Maurya, especially against Yuvraj!" laughs Sohan.
How did the Zee finalist land a role on a Star One show? "I auditioned for it and got selected. It is a continuing character," says Sohan, who also plays a character in Paalkhi on Zee and will be soon seen in Asha Parekh's new soap in a lead role.
Manav plays the stern professor!
Says Remix producer Shrishti Arya, "Yes, we needed a new face, as always! Sohan auditioned for it and we liked it."
Besides Sohan, Shrishti also plans to introduce a new girl on the show. "It's just too early to say anything about the girl. But yes, it is true. She will be cast opposite Sohan. But she will be a part of everyone's life," says Shrishti. She adds, "Though Sohan's promos are already on air, his episode will be on air after three weeks."
Three characters have had to bow out of Remix to make way for the new ones. Among those who have exited are the characters of Aman, Arjun and Maria Priya. And the third who gives company to Sohan and the as-yet undecided girl on the show, is Manav Gohil who will play a stern vice principal of Maurya High.
