Open whatever it is you want to protect and click File on the Toolbar and Send To a Zip Folder. After you do that you can add a Password so no one can open it unless you give them the pasword. It only works with NTFS though.

Please read completely!
It is impossible to hide it completely, but you can select the file in Windows Explorer and then click on File, Properties and then the General tab. Then go to the bottom of the screen and select(check) the Hidden box, then click the Ok button. With this accomplished, the file cannot be seen in Windows Explorer or other programs.
The problem with this is that you may not be able to find the file yourself at a later date.
It can be found by you or anyone else by resetting the file to a non-hidden state via the same method you hide it.
To do that, you need to setup Explorer to view hidden files. Do THAT by clicking on Tools, Folder Options, then the View tab and select the "Show hidden files and folders" radio button. Then click OK.
Otherwise, probably the best way would be to go get a thumb-drive and don't let anyone have access to it. Just store your secrets there. They are pretty cheap now, and they are small to boot.

Hidden attribute is good if the other users are PC an-alphabets.
If not it is really bad.
If You have Admin access You can hide much between the many files in system or system32. Use extension dll or something like that. Remember to delete MRU lists and such.
Alternatively there are places in Internet were You can get accounts and store files. Another good place is as attachment inside mail if it is in a Password protected user Profile.
E. g. Thunderbird mail with Master-password set. But You would have to know what You are doing. If You loose password data are really gone.
No secure hidding place on a PC if the other users are wizzards
and want to find something.

Just remove the extension like if it's a picture (*.jpg) to make it harder for the person to open it if they do find it and hide it somewhere inside their system you would remember, like "C:\Program Files\Common Files\extremepornsluts.wtf"
Good luck with that.
