The group Collective Soul sings it for rock, but Dolly Parton wrote the lyrics and sings it for country. (woah, heaven let your light shine down)
There is also a Christian rock group called the Newsboys that sings a different "Shine" song (Shine, make them wonder what you got)

collective soul sings the better known version, but in my opinion dolly parton sings the definitive version (she didn't however write it as someone else said ed roland did, i have the cd i looked)
