Eat a banana. The cramp is from low potassium, bananas are a good source.

I have to take prescription meds for night cramps.
It is an involuntary pulse of the muscles and it can cause so much pain, you feel like you are having a heart attack in the leg or foot.
I have carpel tunnel in both wrist, so I get them in my hands and fingers also.
Next time you get a cramp, go to the fridge and get the mustard bottle. POUR it in your mouth and swallow a few good mouth fulls. The cramp will be GONE in a few seconds, not minutes. This stuff is so effective, I don't even worry about taking my prep. drug, and it taste alright too.
Cramps happen if you eat a banana, drink water, or exercise all the time. I have done all of these and still get the cramps.
At a certain age, women going thru menopause, start having night cramp most every night. It is a chemical or mineral in our body that the mustard replenishes
HURTS like crap but sore as all get out the next day too. The cramps do leave a calling card the next day. Soreness.... lol

Yes, I've had it happen a few times. Try getting more potassium in your diet. You could do this by eating a banana every day. Maybe for the next few days, you could eat a couple bananas to build up potassium. Or you can drink Gatorade.

Yes- I have restless leg syndrome as well, the pins and needles feeling drives me bonkers so I think I can relate to what you asked. Try not to sit on a nerve though, makes it worse, like having your foot fall asleep and you wind up walking it off for 3 minutes.

yes, typically you can get leg cramps at night if you're losing potassium and calcium too quickly. that happened to me when i first went on atkins (lost 40 pounds) as soon as i added a supplement the cramps went away.

It happened soooo many times, especially when I was pregnant, I heard that the cause is the lack of some kind of vitamin in the body .

i've had that happen, OUCH. and, i've slept on my arm half the night till it becomes numb, then when i went to turn over, i smacked myself in the face really hard (because my arm was numb) and gave myself a black eye. i hit myself so hard, i saw stars. everybody at school asked what happened, and i told everybody i had a dream that i got into a fight, and woke up with a black eye. they believed me....ok i'll stop now.

Yes, and it hurts. You need more potassium. A banana a day is good or supplements.
