It sounds like he still wants you but, wants to have that girlfriend to fall back on in case you don't want him. It really sounds like he's into you though.

The grass is greener on the other side. The fact that he has a girlfriend and is acting that way towards you should be a major red light anyways. If he's checking you out while he's with her, chances are when he's with you, he's checking someone else out.
