I just asked a question about how much gas is in the states, and got a reply of about 64 cents per liter!!!!!! unbeliveable! its 97 cents in most southern BC, canada right now and has been that way for the last 2 months more or less. In the summer it was 1.20 cents per liter. Why is it so cheap in america? if it was that low here id be driving all the time, instead of using farmers gas.

Last year, the price of gas here in Chicago was $3.99 for a gallon.

This week it's "only" $2.79.

For our autos we pay $95 a year for a city sticker, $75 a year for registration, insurance is mandatory (around $90-150 a month), average about 28% interest on an auto loan. How 'bout you?

Cigarrettes in Chicago are over $8 for a pack of 20. Beer is cheap for about $8 a six-pack (depending on brand, could be as high as $18).

Going to a good movie with your beau costs at least $9 each, not including snacks, going to the circus costs $35 each for a lousy balcony seat.

A cup of coffee from Starbucks is $4 and up (small).

I feel for you, dude, but it ain't no better over the fence.

The fact is, Americans pay as much as amyone in the developed world.
The average American pays one dollar per gallon in taxes, while in Europe, a person may pay the equilivent of three dollars per gallon. The last time I checked, about 50 cents goes into the national highway fund, 10 cents goes into mass transportatiion and 10 cents go for developing alternative fuels. The rest is made up of a "temporary" federal surcharge and state sales tax.
It used to be a law that gas stations had to post the cost plus taxes so that a consumer could see where his dollar went.
Now, as for British Columbia, you have the combination of high national and provincial taxes on top of the higher cost of transporting and storing the gas. Canadian gas costs about the same in Niagra falls Canada, as it does in Niagra falls New York. Most Canadians and New Yorkers fill up at the Indian reservations because the Indian tribes don't have to collect the taxes. Gas that normally cost $2.79 will cost $2.59 at the Res. which means the Indians are making a whole lot more then their non-Indian competitors. This competition keeps the prices a bit lower overall.

human beings favor to stop whining and reduce their call for for gas. i have been studying about those who say they could't devour because of the cost of gas. let's do a touch math. If the common human being drives 20,000 miles a 12 months and their motor vehicle receives 20mpg, then it is a million,000 gallons a 12 months. If the cost of gas is going up $a million, then it really is an complete $a million,000 better a 12 months they ought to spend, or $80/mth, massive deal. imagine if that similar human being offered a motor vehicle that were given 30mpg, a $a million strengthen contained in the gas cost might want to purely strengthen their month-to-month bill with information from $fifty six. now to not indicate the benefits to the surroundings and common drop in gas call for.

Sorry to hear that your gas price hinders you.

Anyway I guess it's nice to live in a country that has some polling power. Sucks to be you paying a ton of money for 1/3 of a gallon.

I guess that is why we foreign people flock to this great country (USA) so we can all save on gas.

Don't you have anything better to do than complain about our gas prices?

Hey, last time I checked there are only two beings that have voluntarily offered their life for the well being of the world. Jesus Chris was one of them and the American Soldier was the other.

All you people in foreign countries do is ***** about stuff here in the States.

Why is it that when something goes wrong we are the first to help. Why is it when something goes wrong here in the US non of you are willing to help.

I see you are just mad about the gas prices.

I typically pay about 2.80 to 3.25 for a gallon in Southern California and Arizona. A lot of the variations in price around the USA are based on the additives that the particular state requires in its fuels. The distance that fuel needs to be trucked around will also effect prices.

And don't forget the exchange rate $3.00(USD)=$3.51(CAD)

So when you do the math, $.97(CAD) per litre is about the same you @#$%ing moron.

Those canadians should count themselves lucky. We americans have to drill for oil here in the US. In canada they escavate the land of a certain kind of rock formation that yeilds plenty of oil from it. Overall our refinery process is still more costly than their method of extrating oil from that rock they dig up. He shouldnt be complaning at all. Even their searching methods for that formation of rock is like over half the cost our geologist charge. sounds like we arnt the only country that has "politic" problems. Write your congressman dude!
