When people find someone who they percieve to be better than them,?

why do they say the most irrational things to cut them down?Almost like what they say is nonsensical.

they perceive those people as challenges. scornful words are like a reflection of their insecurities in themselves. sure, it isn't nice and doesn't seem right but it's a tendency. sometimes, some people just want to ascertain their own capabilities out of the perception they may be inadequate. still, the truth remains no one is perfect but there are those who try their best to constantly improve themselves. that kind of effort may overwhelm others and let them seem like competition.
