Yes, very gently. By calling their names. My dog was a stray and he had a lot of nightmares when he found us but now it hardly ever happens. I kept the nightlight on for him so he could see where he was. Boy, he looked so relieved every time...

Yes, I gently wake them up and tell them it's me and that everything is OK and pet them for a minute and they just drift off back to sleep.

I used to. My dog passed a little over a year ago. When she appeared to be dreaming she would start yipping and I would say her name loudly to wake her up. If you shook her or grabbed her while she was sleeping you were guaranteed to get bit.

No. You shouldnt wake an animal from a dream. They are usually kicking butt in it anyway. I let my dogs finish the dream. If they are biting something in the dream you dont want it transferred to you if you wake them up in the middle of it. Theyll be ok.

Oh yes I do and I give them a big hug , even my little rat who is called "Sits on head " . I feel sorry for them becasue the images must be so confusing for their minds to understand.

Our dog's do that alot, we raise our voices loud enough for the dog's to hear us. I wouldn't wake my dog up from dreaming, just like you're not supposed to awaken a sleep walker, they could hurt you, from being startled and a dog could end up biting you.

Sometimes I'll watch the dog dreaming & he's just dreaming, just running & barking, I think he's having some fun, so no I don't wake him unless he's crying.
