I think it is mostly because owning an animal lowers your blood pressure. It is a relaxing thing to just sit there and run your hand down the back of an animal that trusts you so totaly and completely. I think the green eyes on cats and black spots on white dogs is an exotic thing that people like and feel they want when they see it.

It is true that some people love them, but not all do. I personally love cats, but not all of them. It really depends on how the dog/cat looks like for me. Cats and dogs are different and have pros/cons in owning them. Cats are smaller. Small dogs are puppies and those ugly dogs(chiwawa and bull dog). Cats are prettier. Dogs are more loyal and can do tricks(may be trained). Dogs may be more troublesome to own. They do not use a litter box.
I like baby cats better.
Some people want companionship from them. Some people may be lonely and can't find friends in people so they find companionship in animals.

People who are lonely and have no family use pets as companions, people who have children like pets as companions and playmates for them. People who cant or dont have children, take care of there animals instead. There are so many answers to this question!

i don't know why people do but i'll tell why i do. they're fun, they become part of the family and cos they love you no matter whether you have make up on or not, whether you're good looking or just plain, and they don't expect anything in return just some loving

they're cute, cuddly, and sometimes do silly things that might make you happy....like running around the house really fast or standing up when they hear or see something...i heard having dogs can make you healthier....but sometimes your just born to be an animal lover

I used to have dogs.But no cat,sometime i scare cat.The reason i love about my dogs is i can play with them.they like to play.
