I bought him from Petco two days ago. The humidity is fine, the temp is fine, he has a basking lamp, UVA and UVB, warming rock, safe hiding log, fake trees, crickets, and everything he needs. Why is he flopping around and doing this? I live in a small town and there's no way I can get to a vet right now. What can I do???

It sounds like the start of MBD (metabolic bone disease) which is a calcium deficiency. If you just got him 2 days ago then there is no way you could of caused a calcium deficiency, it had to be either the store or the store's supplier. I would notify Petco and make them take him back, he is gonna need a lot of extra attention healthwise and possible calcium shots at the vet. I would before you bring him back at least try to get some liquid calcium in him first. I would think it's the most humane thing to do since you know Petco's not gonna do it.

Hi it sounds very much like your dragon has got a calcium deficiency. This can result in spasms, toe twitching and get worse if he is under stress, ie when you go to pick him up. The calcium problem can be due to the pet suppliers not giving the reptile the vitamin supplement it needs. You can get a calcium supplement called bone aid, this is a intensive way of getting the vits down him in a short space of time. You will also need to dust his crickets with calcium dust daily for at least a month. As you have had the lizard for such a short period of time i would contact the supplier and complain.

Yeah I say that you should take it back to Petco ASAP and ask them for a new lizard or maybe somone there will have good knowledge on water dragons and know whats up and can help you.

um.....

this is a good one, the first thing I thought was overfeeding (i came home one day to see my father feeding my hatchling nile monitor pinkies... overfed him... no good.)
I suppose it could be stress, he wasn't dropped in transport or anything, was he? When did he start flopping around? The day you brought him home? Today? Has he eaten or taken a drink? Any pest control people come into your house? Oh, so many things, first thing tomorrow go back to where you got him and say "hey, my lizard's defective." tell them what's going on, they might be able to help you.

If you have too many crickets in your cage, it could freak out your dragon too. That happened to me with my 1st dragon. I took out the crickets and he settled down again... but if this doesn't fix it, do take it back to petco.
