ABS-CBN is the oldest Philippine television. It was formed when Alto Broadcasting System (ABS) is merged with Chronicle Broadcasting Network (CBN). It is the largest television group in the Philippines and widely watch through out the Philippines (provincial) It is owned by Lopez family, one of the country's richest, also owner of several big company in the Philippines from power, water, cable, publishing, radio etc.(sound like monopoly)
ABS-CBN was closed during the martial law and made a successful comeback after people power. It became the no.1 television station the Philippines but after the so called "people power 2" (which i dont recognized historically), it's credibility gone down. this was because of their bias (which i believe to be true) against estrada and their support of arroyo (because of a certain business deal with lopez in maynilad) by their news department. It losed to its rival GMA-7 in Metromanila and became the second largest. Metro manila ratings are important since the large % of tV viewers are in Metromanila (remember 15% of Phili pop is in metro manila).
During 2004 election, most of their personalities explicitly support the arroyo presidency which prove the perception of many that they are bias. in fact, Korina Sanchez was demoted in TV patrol for its explicit support to arroyo (when she was asked by manila bulletin). Also, Dong puno was replaced as the vice pres for new since he has been linked as pro-arroyo. The news dept constantly reformat their flagship programs to ragain viewership.
However, in terms of entertainment programs, abs-cbn is the best. They had pioneered many programs which the rival copied e.g gameshow, fantaserye. But their image was once again tainted because of the so called wowowee tragedy.

among their programs, my fav is game ka na ba?

I am expecting in the future that there would be another television station which has synonymous quality as international network, not highly commercialized just like abs-cbn and gma-7, not politicized like nbn and rpn and not explicitly bias just like abc 5.

when it comes to my viewing times, i spent more time watching abs-cbn kasi dito na ako na sanay. in our province ABS-CBN was the first to extend their power ( i mean the 20000watts)in 1990 while GMA7 is behind about 15 years (since 2005). so in my province (davao oriental) nasanay na ang mga tao sa abs-cbn

and if you want to watch "some bias" watch abs-cbn, just putin mind that the reverse is the true

It is a popular, privately owned television station in The Philippines. It's after ratings and hence wants to make money from advertising ... the higher the ratings ... the higher the ad revenues ... pure capitalism. It's just like any American privately owned television station. The focus is on ratings and revenue. There is a lot of "dummying down" ... look at the Jerry Springer Show, professional wrestling, ad nausium in America. The Philippines is the same.
