yes....it is a cedar tree, and it means inmortality.
From ancient times, it was a very liked tree.
Phoenicians..Salomon..pharaons...
hebrews........everyone wanted the wood of that tree.
Centuries ago, all the mountains of Lebanon were totally covered with them, but in recent times they were at the edge of extinction.
Luckilly, nowadays, a comission to preserv the cedars has been formed with notable pple from Lebanon.One can see that specially in The Cedars.......
They are making a great labour, and thank to them, and with so much help from God, cedars are coming and you can see huge pieces of land totally covered with young cedar trees.
That work has been declared of national interest by lebanese authorities.

The flag of Lebanon consists of two equal-sized red horizontal stripes that are placed at the top and bottom of the flag. In between the red stripes is a white stripe that is equal in size to the red stripes. In the middle of the flag and white stripe there is an image of a green cedar tree.

Lebanese Flag Meaning:
The cedar tree is a prominent feature of the Lebanese flag. It has been used as a symbol by the Maronite Christians of Lebanon since the 18th and 19th centuries. The tree represents peace, immortality and tolerance. The red stripes symbolize martyrdom and self-sacrifice, and the white represents the snow-capped peaks of Lebanon's mountains. Historically, red and white have symbolized the Kayssites (red) and the Yemmenites (white), who were opposing clans within the Lebanese territory between 634 and 1711.

Lebanese Flag History:
The Lebanese flag was adopted on December 7, 1943 after gaining independence on November 22, 1943. Lebanon was created by France in 1920 and the Lebanese flag is based on the French tricolor. The cedar tree was placed in the white of the French flag. When Lebanon claimed independence from France they got rid of the French blue and changed the stripes from vertical to horizontal. A green cedar tree on a white base was used as a Lebanese flag after Ottoman (Turkish) rule came to an end in the region at the end of the First World War, in 1918.

Some flag manufacturers have made the cedar tree green and brown, but Lebanon's constitution states that the tree should be green only.

Cedrus libani, commonly known as the Lebanon Cedar or Cedar of Lebanon, is a coniferous tree native to the mountains of the Mediterranean region, it can mainly be found in Lebanon, but also in western Syria and south central Turkey.

Cedar is the national symbol of the Lebanese Republic.

The Lebanese Anthem mentions the cedar "Its pride is in its cedar - Its symbol for immortality" i.e Lebanon's pride is in its cedars which is also the symbol for Lebanon's immortality.

Cedars are also an inspiration for many Lebanese poets, and they are very much often mentioned in poetry and marked with the traits of happiness & mightiness

It is the most impressive tree mentioned in the Bible. The usual Hebrew word for cedar, erez, is of mysterious origin, derived most likely from some Arabic dialect. It probably means "Mighty," & used with this meaning at Ezek 27:24.

In addition, cedar trees are singled out from all of the other trees mentioned in the Torah and called the "trees of the Lord" (Psalm 104:16).

Yes it is a Cedar tree. Maronite Christians in the 18th century used a white flag with the cedar tree, with reference to the Bible (somewhere in Pslams according to a friend)
