When your drunk, your body is loosened up. You don't tense up upon impact. At least that is what I have heard.

This may sound a bit technical/descriptive, hope it helps.
I believe it has something to do with action before impact. If somebody is sober then every muscle in the body will brace for impact (tense up), this however causes more damage. A person who has been drinking however is in a state of relaxation (limp, slumped, whatever). So when they are bracing for impact (if they realise whats happening) their own reaction time is much slower than that of a clear mind. Therefore, by the time the impact occurs their body isn't braced for it. A body that slumps/relaxes before impact is more likely to encounter less damage. This is in a scenario where the victim knows of the oncoming accident. If the victim is unaware of the oncoming accident however (say a pedestrian) then we go back to the drunk's slow reaction time.
People should be made aware or realise it by now that if you drink and drive, not only are you an idiot but a risk to everyone on and off the road. Cars don't cause accidents, people do.

Alot of the answers have the part of your question answered.
Drunks are usually relaxed and will bounce around and have alot of muscular damage (bruising and such).
Non-Drunks when they see the crash, tense up, grip the wheel, or push against the floorboard.. This causes alot of the stress of the crash to be transmitted to bones which break and then cause more internal bleeding from bones like the femur and also from the edges of the bone cutting into organs and muscle causing even more bleeding and shock.
There is also the other aspect. Most drunks CAUSE the accidents, so they are moving and hit someone else, they will slow down some, if they hit a stopped car, the car doesnt just speed up a little, it goes from 0-60 in milliseconds, causing alot more GForce damage to necks.
The location of damage is also a difference. Drunks usualy hit people slow-speed when backing up, or higher speeds when driving forward so most of the force is transmitted thru the engine to get to the passenger compartment of the drunks vehicle. The non-drunk will get it in the doors or near the passenger compartment so more energy is focused on the people. If it comes to a head on crash then you are basicly back to the alcohol loosens 'em up..
Plenty of drunks die either immediatly from the crash or may die in the hospital from complications such as head injuries that were not intiially seen because of alcohol (someone else said it dulls their senses, and it actually is true)

Suprisingly it's because they're drunk. They're more relaxed during impact which has proven to minimize initial and following trauma and I would guess the intoxication would suppress the shock of much impact unless of course the impact causes injury in which case I would think the drunk to bleed out quicker (due to thinned blood).

I think its because their muscles are loose from the inebriation, meaning the impact of the accident damages their bodies less. The victims are tense and scared (usually depending on the situation) and thus the impact affects their bodies more.

God has his reasons, maybe to live a life knowing that they took someone eles and having to live with the guilt for the rest of their life[ hopefully in a cell] befor they die and burn in hell. It makes me mad to, my best friend was killed by one of those.

most likely it has to do with the amount of alcohol in their bloodstrem. the more drunk, the less they resist against the crash, muscles are loser, esp. if they pass out
it is so sad, so preventable

B/c the fact that they are intoxicated makes them less likely to fight treatment or go into shock of any kind. It's not fair, but its so true!
