All the rivers south of the equator do not run north. The rivers on Australia's north coast like the Ord and the East Alligator do but the Murray and the Darling, the biggest rivers, flow southwest. In South America most of the rivers run east or west. Those running north to the north coast are north of the equator.

The Nile River. Many significant rivers bypass South to North (maximum empty into the Arctic ocean), yet maximum benefit this diagonally, like the Mackenzie, Ob, and Lena, all lengthy significant rivers. No significant river except the Nile flows in this variety of immediately South-North direction. The Nile flows into the Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic Ocean, not the Arctic, too. the purely significant river that comes on the fringe of such an instantaneous South-North direction is the Yenesi in Siberia.

don't forget the Great North River. People seem to be amazed when they hear about rivers running North. Keep in mind, North is not actually going UP, so a river isn't defying gravity when it flows North. North only seems like "up" because that's how we look at maps...North is at the top.
