My husband plays and occasionally he'll say, "We need a XYX on our group, if you wanted to you could play with us." My 5 year old daughter likes it and she has a character she's created too. It looks like fun but I've never played a RPG before.

Also our friends used to play EverQuest and they were so addicted to it, it was a joke! They were big gamers and just were glued and looked like zombies half the time.

Adding on my DH has been staying up past midnight every night to play this and seems docile as a kitten all the time, smiling and happy. Not sure if he's turning to a zombie or what but it's odd so see him all stoned out all the time.

Believe me you'll have a blast. I didnt get into mmo's until my husband started to get addicted at that time to Final Fantasy 11. I wanted to know what the hoopla was all about so I bought my own and soon I was hooked. I've been playing World of Warcraft for about over a year now.It is addictive but I look at as more like my hobby and not my life. My husband and I play together and we have so much fun, unless we're arguing over who's healing better but thats a different story lol... At first it can be a little over whelming with all the buttons and acronyms for things but you have your husband to guide you through somethings, and for when he's not there the community will be more then helpful most the time. You'd be joining at the most perfect time. The expansion is coming out and there will be abundance of new players and returning players right at your level. Soon you'll be a MMO gaming pro ! Please feel free to email me if you need any help or questions when / if you decide to play
( vixenkitten04@yahoo.com ) and I'll be happy to offer any advice.
Take Care !

I have played WoW for over a year and I can tell you...I don't even really remember much of what happened this year. It was spent in front of my computer screen.
I am not a once addict, I am still an addict.
It becomes an addiction when you're out doing 'real-life' things and all you think about is going home and playing. Or when you compare what people are saying to things WoW-related and you laugh to yourself and everyone gives you odd stares.
If I could go back in time, I would not have bought this game. The reason being is that it never ends. There is no final boss and then you watch the ending scene and it goes back to the start screen. You kill the final boss of an instance and then you go back to town and repair and go farming for potion materials you will need for tomorrow's attempts. Instances reset every week. You can kill the bosses for eternity.
If you don't have self-control, you will find it taking over your life.
My boyfriend and I both play. We sit side-by-side at our individual desks and the only time we speak is when one of us gets up for a drink and asks the other to get them one too. Trying to get him to log off and come watch some tv with me or something is like pulling teeth. And it's not all him...say I will have obligations that i need to get done that day...then suddenly it's 8 p.m. and I'm sitting in the same spot. And the sad thing is, we're not even hard-core addicts.
My point is. It's so addicting it should almost be illegal. Don't start playing because it will be too hard to stop. You'll regret it in the end when you wonder where the past year went...there's so many other things to do with your life than play WoW.

I just started a month ago and it is like people say addicted. Though I would say to play the game for it is fun, you just have to have self control. I found myself playing for like 8-10 hours a day, can you say loser. For pete's sake, you can't pause the game so when your in the middle of battle or something you have to finish it and your wife or kids may need something and you find your self saying, sorry honey, too many troggs are around i'll have to help later. It really takes over your life. But now that school is starting I know I won't spend so much time since I won't be home as much.

yes WoW is addicting. The best way to overcome this is to have friends that don't play it. If everyone u know plays it then you will be lost to its addiction. It is easy to fall prey to it. I can't count on my hands the number of nites i have not slept, even when I had to work the next day, just so I could get this lvl or get this item or whatever. But in the grand scheme of things as long as you keep it in moderation then you are not wasting your time.
Many peeps say it is a waste of time, but seriously most things peeps do for fun are a waste of time. So get the game and enjoy it. Just don't let it consume your soul.

It's an awesome game, as long as you play it in moderation. The problem is that it can become an addiction that can affect other aspects of your life. In your case, playing it will give more time with your husband, which is a plus.
Always remember is only a game. ;-)

I actually recommend WoW alot. I've been playing it for the past 2 years ... I play it in moderation as well (reason for having only ONE sixty) so I've got to say that it hasn't withered my social life away.

I used to play EverQuest and understand how they felt, though I just never got as immersed as I did with EQ as I did WoW.

Recommended, just watch your step. ;-)

You should avoid it. There are more cons then pros. It's really addictive, and when you really get hooked onto it, you'll take things that happen in-game really seriously. Like, say you die or something, then in real life, you'd get really pissed at everyone. Then, there might be an in-game party, and you're willing to stay up to 4 in the morning just to be there. Plus, you have to pay to play...

Ever heard of the Korean couple who left their baby at home, and went out to play WoW, and when they got back, their baby died? And that kid (several kids) who killed themselves because something happened to their character? You can find yourself saying "I'm not going to get addicted", but you will. MMORPG's are like a drug.
