Maya is the absolute best- all of the animation companies (including Pixar, even Lucasfilm) use Maya. Last semester one of my classes had an animation demo and we used Maya- it looked overwhelming, but it wasn't too hard. You can do anything on it!
The only thing is it is extremely expensive. Their website though, http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?siteID=123112&id=7635018 , is offering a free trial if you want to see how you like it.

macromedia fireworks just download the trial 2 cif u like it
and make animations on the frames
