This is normal, or it was for me anyways. I had this and my doctor told me that was caused from the added pressure and opening of my pubic bone. Your bones below shift slightly during the last few weeks of pregnancy and the baby "drops" down into the birth canal causing added pressure on the pubic bone. It was very painful for me for very brief periods of time but still very painful nonetheless.

Good Luck and I hope this helped.

i think i know what you are talking about, my doc said that they are just the muscles stretching and getting ready for the birth, but i dont think she knows just what i mean when i try and explain those pains. my sister said that she had them when she was pregnant and a few weeks later my niece was here.... then i started getting them at my 34th week, then when i went in for my exaime, my doc said that she can tell that the baby will be here soon because of everything that she sees going on down there... im at 36 1/2 and this last week i can REALLY tell that she is gonna be here soon. lots of contractions and pressure in my lower belly, the pains down there have gotten a little bit better but not a hole lot. sometimes it just hurts to get out of bed, because that area just hurts. so i think i know what you are going threw and if its the same as me then it should go away slowly. i tryed taking a warm bath and it only made it worse, but i would try it, everyone is different it might work for you.

with my first i was walking around dialated at 1 for almost 2 weeks. the pain could just be from the position of the baby. your contractions if your stomach gets hard at the top and around your belly button, they arent always painful. my first was induced my second baby i went to the hospital when my stomach was tightening and painful because every one told me real contractions are painful but when i got to the hospital i was dialated at 6. now with this baby im carring i am 37 weeks my baby is breech and my doctor told me not to wait till it hurts other wise i could come to the hospital with a foot hanging out and he told me from the belly button up draw an imaginary + and in the corners if its hard in all 4 then its a contraction if they dont stop when i change positions then they are the real ones. he said alot of times you can feel them in your back but some women cant. but i really think the pains down there are normal but if your still unsure about it call your doctor and ask just to be safe.

You are probably in the early stages I experienced some shap pains in my contractions for both of my labours. Call the hospital and go down get them to check you out for peace of mind and stay there or go home depending on what they suggest. You may feel more comfortable at home. You may also feel pressure and pain in your back and that is normal. Good Luck

I had a lot of sharp pains like that with my first pregnancy. It felt like he was going to rip through my cervix. My friend is also pregnant right now and experiencing similar pains. I think it's just the babys head pushing down on your cervix. If you're really concerned see your doctor, but it's probably just one of the joys of being pregnant. Congratulations.

I would say that its the baby's head rubbing on pubic area. I have that too but im only 35 weeks (have to put up with it a little longer). The last few weeks can be so hard, good luck.
