RISE OVER RUN. 2/1, -2/1, 1/2, -1/2. the first will be going to the top right. go up 2 numbers and right one ending up at (1,2). the line will pass through that number and (0,0). do the same for the others.

i think they are giving you the slope of 4 different lines. the slope is defined as a distance in the y direction and a distance of 1 in the x direction. so, for A), the slope of 2 is y of +2 (up 2 units) and x of +1 (one unit to the right). the y intercept of the line is not given, so the line could be any line with a slope of 2. use the same technique for the other 3 slopes. for the negative slopes, make the y a negative value and the x a value of +1. i hope this helps.

I'm seeing this as points (2,-2) and (1/2,-1/2)
The line through these points would be
(y - 2)/(x + 2) = (-2 + 1/2)(2 - 1/2) by point-slope method.
(y - 2)/(x + 2) = -1(2 - 1/2)(2 - 1/2)
(y - 2)/(x + 2) = -1
y - 2 = - x - 2
y = - x
The slope is -1, and the y-intercept is 0.
The line passes through the origin, dropping one unit with every 1unit increase in x.

as someone mentioned, the slope is rise over run. I have drawn graphs for you at http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f187/norakemetrics/11461236.png
