you need to install your sound drivers, there should be a motherboard disc that came with your pc with all the drivers on it or you can go to the manufacturers web site and download them from there, you should find them on the product support page or download page

This may not be a simple issue, there are a lot of possibilities here.
Since you did not specify if you just got this computer and if it has speakers / speaker outlet, I need to qualify... does this computer have a soundcard? You can check by looking for a hole or group of holes in which you could plug a 1/8" Headphone connector. Typically there is 3, sometimes more, rarely or never less. A bonus here is you might see one ringed green, one pink, one blue, or maybe only one of those. If there is a green one, that is usually for speakers.
If you know you hae a soundcard, and you know there are speakers already plugged in, check your volume first, make sure it isn't muted, usually you can check this in the small speaker icon bottom right of your screen, near the time. If there is no speaker icon, you likely don't have drivers installed.
Getting drivers for a sound card... Was there a disc with your computer for a soundcard? What about a soundcard manual or motherboard manual? Check those first. If not, you need to know the make and model, then check their website... IE if it is a dell, check the dell site for drivers for your computer model. If it was a compnent system you bought IE at a computer store, your motherboard manual, soundcard manual, will have something, or if it is for example a turtle beach, or soundblaster soundcard, their respective sites will have drivers.

It's likely you already have a soundcard in yuor computer and the problem might actualyl be:
1. Your connections from your computer to yuor speakers (make sure they are connected correctly)
2. You have a hardware conflict with your soundcard and something else in youre computer...Go to "Device Manager" to make sure you dont see a "!" (yellow exclamation mark) next to your sound card
3. Your soundcard might be fried and needs a replacement
4. Your sound driver is not installed or configured correctly and so isnt coming out.
5. Your sound settings (use Control Panel's Sound icon) is set where the Output sound isnt going to yuor soundcard but to something else...usually in computers there is an onboard soundcard and usually people by a sepearte soundcard to be installed into their computers...by doing this it is important that the Sound setting be pointing to the right sound card otherwise you get no sound

Most likely you need to buy a sound card . Go to best buy or a computer store and they can help you on what type of sound card you need . I don't think there that expensive either .
