Nope, rats can't vomit and here's why,
http://www.ratbehavior.org/vomit.htm
I could explain it, but it's 3:00am, I'm tired, and Ann says it best. She's a trusted, and highly-respected member of one of the rat-only Yahoo groups that I'm on.
What I found on the web is that horses can vomit but they rarely do because, if they are nauseous enough to need to throw up, it means they have colic. Throwing up with colic can cause the stomach to rupture. I had the same horse for 24 years. He coliced once and I never, ever saw him throw up, nor did I see the evidence of throwing up

Horses have a band of muscle around the esophagus as it enters the stomach. This band operates in horses much as in humans: as a one-way valve. Food freely passes down the esophagus into the stomach as the valve relaxes but the valve squeezes down the opening and cuts off the passage for food going back up.

its because they dont have a gag relfex. horses will just colic, or if something goes down wrong, they choke, not cough it up or vomit. very scarry to watch, hard to help. sorry dont really care bout rats.
