It says it is finding Tracking cookie (Firefox: default) for things like Hitbox, Doubleclick, Mediaplex, Avenue A, and a few others almost everytime I run spybot after browsing the internet...how do i solve them keep popping up as problems (i'm assuming they are)?

As an alternative to 2nd party software, use FireFox's built in security features. Go to Tools-->Options and hit the Privacy tab. Here you can control your cookie problem. I have mine setup to clear cookies when I close FireFox. The dropdown box allows you to choose. It also allows exceptions if there are some you want to keep. This way, all cookies are nuked when you close FireFox. You don't really need them anyway, so just kill them.

If don't have a firewall, get one. Zonelabs zonealarm is free and under the Privacey tab click on Cookies and check the 'Block 3rd party cookies' box.

Cookies are just small .txt (text) files that by themselves cannot hurt your computer. They are not a virus, but some people consider "tracking" cookies to be an invasion of privacy.

It all depends on one's level of paranoria.

Tracking cookies are mostly "3rd party cookies" from advertising servers. They can track your movements around the web in order to deliver to you customised, targeted advertising.

A free download of SpywareBlaster will help prevent you from getting tracking cookies in the first place, so you will have less to remove!

Blocks tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox.
