When I was about 17 years old, I was staying alone at home, my parents had gone to Las Vegas for a 3 day weekend. I was a good kid and trustworthy. We had just moved into this old two story house a few weeks before. There were always creaks and noises at night, I just figured it was the floors and walls. It was a Saturday night, I was reading a book in my room when the electricity went out. I was a little freaked by that, I looked outside and could see the neighborhood was dark, so I knew it wasn't just me. I went to my dresser and got my flashlight, but the batteries were dead. I went downstairs to the kitchen to try to find some candles, but couldn't figure out where my mom had put them. I went to the basement, because our camping equipment was down there and I could get a lantern out. It was really creepy, wooden steps creaking as I walked down into total darkness. I waited hoping my eyes would adjust to the dark when I saw a faint glow in the corner of the room. It slowly grew larger and clearer. It was the shape of a woman, dressed in old turn of the century clothes. Her mouth was moving as she looked at me, like she was talking to me. She pointed at the boards that made up the wall on that side. About that time the power came back on and I turned, startled as light came down the stairs from the kitchen. When I looked back, the woman was gone. I went over to the area the woman had pointed at. I noticed one of the boards had different nails holding it that the other ones, they were square, real old. I tapped on the board and it sounded hollow compared to the others, not hollow exactly but dead sounding. Like it just swallowed the sound. I got a small crowbar out of my dad's toolbox and pried the board loose. It smelled like something I had never smelled before, but I knew by instinct what that sickly sweet smell was, death. Inside the space behind the board was a box. The phone upstairs rang and scared the crap out of me. I pulled the box out and set it on the floor and went upstairs to answer the phone. When I said "Hello" all I could hear was the echo of my own 'hello' several times. I said "Hello?" again and got the same echo back. As I hung up the phone, I noticed on the kitchen counter, there were the candles and matches that hadn't been there earlier! I admit I was more than a little scared, I grabbed a candle and the matches along with a kitchen knife for 'protection' and went back to my room, locked the door and tried to go back to my homework and ignore all the little night noises in the house.

I was sitting on the edge of my motel bed just stareing at the television set as it were,it was daytime, but the curtains were drawn and it made the room dark, almost, a sense glitching gloom. My level of concionsce was on a different plain but focused on a spot blurred point against the grain of my mind, at almost the perfect time ,or, the most imperfect space/time moment i glithced as though i was electrified by a pin prick of senscery poking,. over my left shoulder i could hear a slow constant low pitched scratch against the drape pushing upward at a skip of restarts but at no loss of sound waves that stayed constant and groweled as i motioned to turn my head to see.I felt as though the window was open and someone was pushing at the plastic curtain with a branch upward when ,my attention was on the blurr, but to no end was the sound and as i took a second attempt at looking over my shoulder the scratching sound started a slow growl and became almost visious as i inched my head and flexed my neck toward the terror that was flooding me.I then realized that the windows were closed and it was not nightime but the vivid sound must be that of a starving insane doberment pincer sitting in the window cill awaiting a beating it did not deserve. But the growl became a scratching as i turned my thaughts.....and then i could slowly hear the low sound of the television again...the next thing i know is the blurred focal point became a clear spot and i had a sense of levetation for a moment but to my surprise the television was not on, and the first noise i heard out side the room was equall to that of a church bell but was only a person picking up there droped keys and the words from there mouth came angry and said"the damned coller is studded, be carefull"
