The Bugatti Veyron 16.4, the most expensive, fastest and most powerful street-legal car in the world, goes from 0 to 60mph in 2.5 seconds and retails for a mere $1,440,000. It's top speed is 253.2mph by the way.

as for top speed the Mclaren F1 im sure you are refering to is no longer top of its class. In March 1998, the F1 confirmed that it is the fastest production car in the world, achieving a record top speed of 240.14mph. This was a record it held until March 2005. For the last while it has been the Bugatti Veyron. A W-16 engine that can produce 1,001 horsepower
A top speed of 250+ mph (400+ kph)

A price tag somewhere in the $1.2 million range.
Although with some quick reserch i found a new contender
the Barabus TKR. the car reportedly has a top speed of 270 mph — nearly 20 more than the Veyron. I hope that helps.
