I pump for my infant when we go out and I believe she is overeating because at night she gets fussy because of gas. I give her a couple of bottles of pumped milk a day so people can feed her. She likes to eat 4 ounces which I believe is too much. What is recommended?

If she is eating 4oz and not spitting up then continue giving her 4oz every 3-4 hours. Gas doesn't necessarily mean overeating. She could be getting too much air, or like my son, could be a gassy baby. If she is spitting up, cut the intake down to 3 oz every 3-4 hours.
Good Luck

If I remember correctly my son was eating around 3 to 4 ounces at 3 to 4weeks. They actually go up in ounces pretty quickly. My doctor always told me to feed him every 4 hours but he ate every 3 hours. Gas is very normal, if it's unbearable to the point of just screaming all the time consult your doctor as it may be colick. Mylicon makes some great drops that you can give them although sometimes it seemed not to work on my son. I've heard other people say that it worked great on their kids. Also check with your doctor about diet as it could be something that you are eating.

Your doing fine, breast fed babies have feedings closer together because it is not as thick and it goes through the body faster. your baby should eat 2-4 oz every 1 an 1/2 hour- 3hrs is normal if she feeds every couple of hours like I said and 4oz at every feed that is great she will eat as much as she wants to and if she spit up a little than she is full which is also normal as long as she isn't spitting it all up. no worries she sounds like she is on schedule. she will eat 4oz up until around 3months and than want more gradually just feed her until she is satisfied and congrats on your baby. good luck

Your baby knows how much she needs. It is probably the bottle or bottle nipple that is allowing her to suck in air. I would switch to a different size. NEVER ever give a baby soy formula. Research soy on Dr. Mercola's site or elsewhere. You will see it is poison. Make sure you use glass bottles. Chemicals in the plastic especially if it isn't clear plastic can leach into the milk.

She is probably gassy because she is getting it from the bottle. She isn't as gassy after nursing at the breast as long as you have a good latch.
To stop the gas, stop or limit the bottle use.

they usually eat about 2 to 4 ounces. and if she doesn't spit it up than you aren't overfeeding her. but how often does she eat? and do you burp her? you may want to burp her every two ounces so that she can get the extra gas up. but also she could be allergic to the milk. you may want to contact the ped. and ask them for some advice. if it is the milk they will switch her to a soy based formula.

my daughter had the same problem... i decided on giving her a little bit of mylicon (gas drops for infants) before feeding time. give it to her about 15 minutes before...she may stop having so much gas, no gaurantee that it'll get rid of all, but it helped my daughter a lot!

As much as he can take. Its very normal for him to suffer from gas as he is taking only milk not any solid food. It's very common.

Our pediatrician says that you can not overfeed baby at this age. If she doesn't spit up that what she needs. You doing good!
