ALL would-be actors should have available at all times a selection of memorized and rehearsed monologues that they can perform at a moment's notice.

I would say that an actor should have no fewer than FOUR such monologues ready to go at all times, and, in many instances, it's useful to have even more than that. That way, whatever your auditors ask for (i.e., one-minute piece, two-minute piece, comedic piece, classical piece), you're prepared.

Actors have a repertoire of audition monologues. Use one you are comfortable performing.
