I live in an aparment and get this disgusting mildew spots on my walls and ceiling from steam from the shower. I keep the fan running (just cleaned out the screen) and keep the door open to try to avoid this, but I have to be a monkey once every two or three months to clean the walls and ceiling. I'm only 5"2', so this is a real pain in the you now what! I explained it to my apartment manager and he came to repaint twice with a stain block and it still happening. Ugh! There's no window in the bathroom either. Any suggestions?? Mildew cleaner isn't working and I don't want a ton of fumes as I have an infant.

I can't paint it myself...I live in an apartment and the painting is my landlord's job.

Moving isn't an option....just wanted to know a good way to clean it or prevent it from happening so I don't have to be a monkey all the time. It's really frustrating....

I am not sure if this will help But I use vinegar and water equal parts to clean jsut about everything. I have 3 kids and I worry about that stuff all the time. So I suggest using that

I painted with a regular latex and the same darn thing happened in my bathroom. It looks horrible, I know. Then about 1 month ago I repainted with a melamime paint and they never came back. So maybe give that a try.
ps
it wasn't any stinkier than regular paint. Tell your landlord to use melamime. If you have to buy it yourself give him the bill.
