some people instead of seeing a color they smell it..it has a name but im not sure what it is called

Yes. Though I don't think it is as powerful a trigger for the hippocampus as smell.

It sends a "feeling" rather than pulling up a memory.

not necessarily memories, maybe feelings or emotions. Colors are very general and cannot be tied to a single event
