I'm just so thoroughly confused by this. Why on Earth would any coach chose to punt it away with no chance of gaining another possession? Am I the only one??

2 minutes to play, Philadelphia has the ball, the score is 24 - 27, New Orleans... AND PHILLY PUNTS?

I could not believe it myself. I don't have the answer but I wonder why too. I really wanted the Eagles to win. Not because I am a fan,but because I will vomit if I have to listen to a bunch of New Orleans / Katrina rising from the ashes crap for the entire playoffs. Get ready to relive all the sob stories all over again.

**I like triangles** I gotta agree, but taking a chance on a pass at least gives you a chance to be in control of your destiny. By punting your hoping N.O. is gonna fail to convert. They shoulda gone for it.

The held the saints to 3rd and 1. Then the Saints got the first down. They were one play away from making the Saints punt and getting the ball back with roughly a minute remaining. It was a tough situation no matter what. Good game.

Ideally, you'd punt it inside the 10. Then, hope your defense stops them three times (they still had 2 timeouts left, so they would still have a minute to operate with once they get the ball back). Then you'd hope for a kick that's OK or worse, get the ball back around midfield, and try to pick up 20 yards in a minute to get the game-tying field goal.

If they needed a touchdown, I think there'd be no question that they would've went for it. That close to midfield, I would've gone for it, but I can see what Andy Reid was thinking.

The very least they should have put up a hail mary which would have been like a punt if intercepted. Hindsight is always 20 and 20 and when the coach is looking back from the unemployment line, maybe he will see his error...lol

To Good Enough For You - Philadelphia is home to some of the greatest men to ever live. And New Orleans isnt exactly what I would call a clean, high class city.

4 down and fifteen new Orleans knew they would have a pass coming so i would rather punt then throw an INT

Well they had it at 4th and ten - then the penalty made it 4th and 15th. All things considered, I would have gone for it. What did they have to lose except the game? Stupid penalties cost Phil the game.

The play book they stole was actually from the Arizona Cardinals.

the coach probaby thought that it would be better to give to them and try to get a turnover, and did not want to give them good field position and score again

Because they felt sorry for the Saints due to the Katrina devestation they figure what the hell we might as well let them have the game.
