The goal of the animal is to eat, sleep, mate, and defend. The goal of the human is to transcend the repeated cycles of birth, death, disease, and old age, and obtain our original spiritual existence.

if we look closely on the life of people in the past and present , it is clear that our life is more and more established. We are seeking truth about the whole world. ie we are slowly reaching the truth. ( Our scintific expeditions show this). we are more sofisticated than the people of the past. I think we are preparing for something. Because everything is created for us. We are the masters now.
earning, eating, sleeping, and enjoying are needed for our survival. But our main goal must be to know more about the world and transfer it to the next generation. I think the evolution has ended with the humen . The evolution was for the creation of the humen . The great architect will have a defenite plan.
Actually what is god it is a hope for the future. So what we want to do is understand about the whole world and work for the future generation.

80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable

many believe the goal of human life is to evolve. Evolove into what? A more conscious Human being. Conscious of what is true, and real in this life. Ultimatley conscious of our true nature as individuals. It is a deeply personal transformation, one we can all undertake, it's always there staring us in the eye, waiting for us to ask the right answers, and get on with it. But to answer your question directly, eating, sleeping, and enjoying are some of the things we "do", or enjoy along the path. like scenic views we stop to look at along our "drive through life". Though we must remember what we are doing in the first place, why we are driving, and where we are driving too. A higher form of consciousness. I hope that gives you some insight, and room to play around with ideas. if you want to talk more, feel free to contact me.

The most basic goal of human life is the same as it is for all life: live long enough to reproduce. After that you are, in effect, useless.

Anything past that is a goal on a personal level, or perhaps on a larger scale, a social goal. In other words, don't look for some grand scheme for life. Set your own goals and make yourself and those around you happy.

Earning, eating and sleeping are simply the means to keep the body alive. The goal of life is to find out why we are here in the first place, do it, and transcent the body, & simply enjoy life, no matter what comes our way. It's all impermanent, no use getting hung up on anything!

Blessings,
Rani

we promised God that we will think only about him and try become like him. this we have forgotten due to our pre-occupation with the world via our senses. If we connect ourselves with our senses then we interact with the world .By changing our attention inward forgetting the sense organs( do not give more importance to them and the information they bring in ) start to look inside (by concentrating on the air we breath in and going into the brain and thoughts).
Just think that during all these acts( earning, eating, sleeping, and enjoying?) it is only the spirit that is doing these acts and not this body even though the body is participating in these acts.
Then the goal will be TO GIVE BACK TO THE WORLD BY THE ACTS OF THIS BODY ALL THAT WE HAVE TAKEN FROM IT, AND GIVE BACK TO GOD OUR THOUGHTS SO THAT HE CAN FULFIL THE NEEDS OF THIS WORLD.

suggestively, the goal of human life is to discover a purpose and act on it. basically, it is believed that everything has a purpose in life - that especially includes human life. as most believe, humans are considered the highest form of life. thus, there is a great expectation of the human race to serve as implementers of change and to sort of take charge in caring for the rest of the world under the supervision and guidance of the greater force (God).

Definitely not.
Even animals do that, and even better !
Self awareness, the unique gift to 'humans' is the key that opens several dimensions of consciousness, and also reveals the goal and purpose of life.
But the choice has to be CONSCIOUSLY exercised !
