You did not get the part most likely because you were not the right one for those plays.
Actors have auditions everyday, but only one gets the part. There are tall actors and small actors, equally qualified.
An actor has to find their artistic 'center' within themselves. Obviously you have a need and a desire to perform.
Think about places which might support you, with opportunities to 'be on stage' while you develop as an actor.
These places could be community centers, local children's theatre workshops, regional playhouses, etc., as well as churches and synagogues.
It's never too late to begin a career on stage or screen. Some actors have begun in their 40s and 50s and become incredibly famous.
Now get out there and 'Break a leg!'
p.s.
You just reminded me of an audition I had long time ago, for a film. Gosh, I am still embarrassed.

If you're auditioning for a singing part but can't carry a tune, yes that's a problem.
If you're auditioning for a part that is described as short, then yes, that might be a problem.
As far as voice-over work, you have to make a demo tape first. There are plenty of studios that actually specialize in making voice-over demos.
Try picking up a trade paper in your area, like "Variety."

Theres more to acting and even musicals than just looking good. You have to be able to sing, dance or act preferably more than one of those.
Voice over work is usually done through small studios for the most part. If you can find a place that does that work you will need to contact them directly to apply.

Ever try out for a cowboy role? I have a feeling you'd look fabulous in chaps...
And I'm not even going to mention the "too much of a swelled head" and modelling underwear comment.

There are all types of actors. Find your niche. Also you must practice your craft! If you want to sing, take lessons. There are ads in the paper all the time for voice coaches. You have to really want it and take the necessary steps to accomplish your goals.

You just may not be right for the part. Having a talent for acting and posing for pictures are totally different areas.
