Stingrays are often solitary, but then sometimes can be found travelling in groups. Because they are fish, they are also called a "school." Whales, on the other hand, are mammals. Stingrays belong to the same family as sharks, e.g. school of Hammerhead sharks.

I have never heard of rays traveling in groups, so I do not believe there is a name for such a thing.

Fun . . . got to play with them last summer down in the Caribbean. Scared the daylights out of me later, though, when our dearly departed Crocodile Hunter got nailed by one. I must have been living right.
