for $10,000. How can we collect on a judgment if contractor has no money? He's an independant and not bonded or insured. I know we made a mistake, so no degrading comments please.

No win situation, I'm sorry. The crooked ones know how to beat the system, we just settled with ours - a painful experience. However, I would double-check with a lawyer to make sure that would be the case.

You will probably not collect any money. The best thing to do is try and protect others. Call the Better Business Bureau in you state, file a complaint. Then tell as many people as you can about the creeps. Call the TV station and see if they might be interested in your story, You might be surprised. Good luck!!!!

there's no way i can think of, if you win the trial, the contractor will declare bankruptcy. You can't collect the money from the contractors personal possessions, there are many laws protecting that. (unless you're in the USA, if you are, go for! strip away all the money and leave the person in shreds! Yay)

Check your state laws, sometimes they have a victim compensation fund that you can apply for because if the contractor doesn't have any money you will not be able to collect from the contractor.

Well....seeing he is independant, i dont care what other people are saying for answers if you are naming him personally in the lawsuit, you can go after his personal assets....it depends upon your state though......i own a judgment recovery business...if you want i can look at this judgment for you. check my site out in the sources...
