Complete abolishion of proverty is never possible. Rich people and poor are like the 2 sides of a coin. If you think from outside we see that a rich man work too hard to sustain his prestige. In essence the sufferings of a poor can be compared with the sufferings of a rich. The low of the nature is that people always keep their tendency to reach the top. In their journey from bottom to the top everyone suffer a lot .
The rich should try to help the poor.

It's impossible to abolish poverty. The fact that all human's deserve food and shelter does not mean that we can magically make it happen. If countries didn't spend money on "militory" and "defence" purposes as you so cleverly spelled them then their wouldn't be a public interest because their wouldn't be a nation if it were not defended.

You can not abolish it especially when we are being ruled by corrupt politicians and beaurocrats.
Think of a situation when every one on this planet is given permission to hold only 1 lakh rupees each. If anybody has more it will be taken out from him and given to those who do not have it.
Do you think you will be able to use your money for anything.
I feel you will not be able to use it at all. Because every one will have the same.
Imbalances in wealth can only be reduced not eliminated.
To reduce it you require a non corrupt political and beaurocratic system.
If you can have it, yes you will be able to reduce the gap, not eliminate it.

Slavery has yet to be renounced. Outlaw the practice and human beings have a chance; until then the weak and vulnerable will continue to suffer. Empathy is denounced; while bullying is cheered and revered.

Poverty can never be abolished from this planet. As long as greed, jealousy, laziness, vanity, hoarding attitude and such human characteristics exist, abolishion of poverty would be a distant dream.
