I'll give you a philosophical answer. Machines are humanities new eyes, ears and hands. They will get smarter and smarter until they are smarter than their parents. We'll soon bring them into our bodies and minds and will become a new species. Our intelligence will soar and we'll acquire the knowledge of gods. It will be a lot of fun if we survive it.

The computer is definately the most important machine to humans right now.
there are plenty of others that _were_ more important. (i.e. telephones) I say this because the computer functions as the most important communications device we have. even if we snatched up phones from existance we can still comunicate text, video, and audio through the computer.
I feel that communication is the most important thing in our world, and that without it, we would have so many more problems than we do now.
