You can use your iPod to transfer your music back to your computer. You first have to 'unlock' some hidden files.
Try this! It's easy and it works!
-open iTunes on your computer, then open iTunes preferences and leave running (this will temporarily prevent your computer from trying to sync with iPod)
-connect your iPod and wait about 15 seconds
-Go to My Computer, go to tools, click on 'folder options', then 'view tab,' then 'show hidden files.'
-open the iPod icon in My Computer
-open ipod_control
-drag the 'music' folder to somewhere on your hard drive
-right click this new music folder and select 'properties'
-clear checkmark next to 'hidden' then close this window
-eject iPod from your System Tray using the 'Safely Remove Hardware' icon at the bottom right corner of your screen
-cancel the iTunes preferences window
-go to File menu, click 'add folder to library,' add 'music' folder

You can do it one of two ways. You can buy a program such as CopyPod (there are others out there too) or you can do it manually from within Windows.
To do it manually, you'll have to set Windows to "show hidden files and folders". To do that open up Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer), at the top go to "Tools" then click on "Folder Options", when the dialog box pops up, click in the "View" tab at the top, then scroll down and check the box that says "Show Hidden Files and Folders". After you do that, plug in the iPod, go to "My Computer" and open up the drive that is the iPod drive. Grab the entire set of folders and move them to your computer, then move them to your "My Music" folder. Then install iTunes and point it to that folder. The reason you have to do it this way is because Apple makes the master iTunes library database file a hidden file.
If you don't want to do it that way, you can just use software to do it for you. See CopyPod here:

Well you can buy a program from Apple and they will allow you to transfer music.
That happend to me too, I got a new computer and I had to transfer all the music.
Another thing is to connect your Ipod to Itunes and get a flashdrive and transfer all the songs on your Ipod to the flashdrive. And then you can load the flashdrive in, and transfer the songs on your flashdrive to your library. Which I thihnk is the easiest, and you dont have to pay for it.

iTunes 7 is set up in such a way that you can actually have it download songs directly from your iPod on the condition that those songs were purchased directly from the iTunes store. If they were ripped from CDs, iTunes will only sync them from the computer to the iPod and not vice versa. But if they were ripped from CDs, you can always rerip them from the same CDs...

in case you bypass to the apple icon on the better-left nook of your demonstrate screen, and choose [about this Mac], you need to be able to be sure the version of your OS (that is operating equipment for you). when you consider that your iTunes states that the iPod contact won't be able to be examine, i'm guessing your Mac must be like, 10.3 or some thing? if so, replace your OS by using clicking the apple icon thingie back, and then click [application replace]. which could examine for accessible updates for all of your purposes, to boot as your operating equipment. although, you are able to only purchase Snow Leopard off a Mac shop someplace. ;P good success! and keep attempting. and do not pay interest to AA's (commercial solutions), they are crap.
