I don't think that you need to do it if it's that unnappealing. If you really want to get into masturbation, try your local "toy shop".

Back in school I think the statististics were with women that 60 percent admitted to having masturbated. With men it was 95% and the reseachers were convinced the other 5 percent were lying.
Personally, I think masturbation is best practiced in the company of a romantic partner. Too many people think sex is limited to penis in vagina and that anything else is dirty or wrong.
A caring lover can offer amazing insight into your own needs given half the chance to speak safely in an experimentive environment. But as the history of sex education has painfully demonstrated, most people are horribly cloistered when it comes to sexual expression. Or they're at the other extreme but just as naive.
As for the acts of sex and masturbation in their own right, please "don't spill your seed." I think that's just common sense considering the number of unwanted pregancies and sexually transmitted diseases. (Technically, applying firm pressure just behind the scrotum during orgasm can prevent most fluid from ejaculating.)

Very few people don't masturbate, but, if it's not for you, then don't worry about it. I wouldn't go out of your way to figure it out, if you're not interested in it.
I think the bigger issue may be that your husband isn't interested in sex as often as you. You two ought to talk that through, and let him know that your needs are not (apparently) being met. If you two are young- 20s, 30s or 40s- then it's kind of odd that he isn't interested.
But if you're going to masturbate, I wouldn't suggest pornography, as that can get a person into some addictive and harmful behaviors. You can probably get advice from other women on here about how to do it (I wouldn't know as a guy) and just go from there.

A trip to a toy shop could help, but also might just end up being more intimidating for you. Try to relax by taking a nice bath, and then explore yourself without the intent to masturbate. This may help you get more comfortable with your body without the pressure of trying for the big O. If you have one of those vibrating back massagers, you could try experimenting with that, too.

I swear you could double as my wife! She is the exact same way. She has done it a time or two while we are being intimate, but never, ever besides that. In fact, she won this masturbation instruction manual for women at a kinky wedding shower 3 years ago. She forgot she had it until I asked her if she'd ever looked at it.
Either way, we have a very healthy sex life, and our obvious differences are what make us a happy couple. Don't fret it!
