Ann Taylor usually has very nice elegant dresses. Bought one for a christmas party last month. check their website under their "celebrations" link. The store is wonderful for petites.

im not sure wat ur qutie lookinf for and the price range but if u go to maybe the body shop at a mall or somewhere at a mall
