In Denver he is classified to be a point guard:
-JR smith is the starting SG.(at least he was early in the season) Even tho his minutes may not show it, he is.
-When Blake comes in for JR smith, AI will slide to SG. AI plays 41 minutes so he doesnt really go to the bench.
-AI cannot be full time SG at Denver, reason is that would mean Blake to start at PG. Then Denver has no bench to backup Blake. Blake is not really a "proven" starting PG.
-if AI plays SG and Blake play PG, one of them will need to guard the likes of Kobe/Wade/Carter, I dont see that happening too often. Days were different in Philly when Eric Snow was the starting PG, who was(may be still is) a decent defender. I seriously doubt AI/Blake can take on an Dwayne Wade.
-and George Karl wants Melo to be the go-to scorer.

I understood he was a pointguard. Has anyone read his story, in Sports Illustrated, about three years ago. He is very close to his mother. She decides who in the family needs help and divides up his pay check. He seems like a good young man.

He's a combo guard, meaning he can play both. Whether or not he is playing point guard or the two guard depends on who else is on the floor. Now that he's with Denver, he'll be playing the point because J.R. Smith will be playing the two, with 'Melo playing the three

How can someone who has averaged better than seven assists a game throughout his career be selfish? How can someone who has almost a 2:1 assist to turnover ratio be a bad point guard? People need to look at a players numbers to answer these questions. I sick of people trashing a player simply becuase they don't like them. Some of these opinion are not researched at all. Look at the numbers before you comment. Please!?!?!?
