A $5 double eagle?

Double eagle gold coins were minted before 1933, and had a value of twenty dollars (an Eagle coin had a value of $10). Because your coin says it has a value of $5, it is not a double eagle coin.

Bullion coins using the same designs have been minted since 1986. The gold coin with a $5 face value contains 1/10th ounce of gold.

Gold prices fluctuate daily, but can be found at Kitco.
