I've heard that they are very bad, bad, and bad for your health, but how MUCH bad are they? I'm just curious if they're "safe" or what's REALLY in them? I know it's full of addictives and stuff... but to what extent is it "bad"? Especially McDonalds??

I too eat fast foods and only a little, but never eat any hamburgers. They're yucky.

If you like to gain weight, mostly fat, then keep eating at fast-food restaurants. Otherwise, stay away from them because it's a matter of time before you become obese. McDonald's is no worse than Taco Bell, Burger King, Carl's Jr since they all strive to clog your arteries, expand your waistline, increase your chance for diabetes and heart disease. The hamburger meat, while on a par with eating garbage, itself is not as bad as that awful spread on the buns which will take its toll on your health in a hurry. McDonald's and other fast food places do come in handy for their restrooms which are slightly better than stopping at a gas station for relief. But don't order any food, just do your thing and slide back out the door and don't look back.

I used to work at fast food restaurants like mcdonalds'... it is common practice for employees to flick the switch on the food timers a couple of times...an average hamburger lasts 30 minutes under the hoodie...in reality, when you receive that same hamburger, it could have been there for over 2 hours at a time...food is also dropped on the floor and picked back up to be placed on those tasty buns of yours...even the employees don't practice safe sanitary habits as they are constantly blowing their noses, wiping their hands across filthy aprons, and eating behind manager's backs (thus infecting the entire batch of food) all WITHOUT washing their hands! The pressure by management is to save food WITHOUT waste...meaning, don't throw anything out that can be consumed by human being or rat!!...on top of that, i've researched fast food restaurants and have found them to be infested with roaches and rat droppings! Be afraid of McDonate-A-Major Organ and any other fast food restaurant...be very afraid...(ghoulish laughter)!!

Fast food isn't healthy for you. That is why many places are banning the trans fat. It kills.

I am also concerned about the level of hygiene at these places.
Some fast food chains require workers wear gloves when preparing food. At the McDonalds by my house, they don't.
My husband witnessed a worker go to the bathroom, not wash his hands then 2 minutes later he was sticking his finger in the sauce and smearing it on a hamburger bun. My husband left sick and called the health dept. on them.

I think it depends on the restaraunt itself. I know a lot of nasty McDonalds that I wouldn't step foot into but I worked for a man who owned 4 McD's in the county and all of his were immaculate, there is soo many things they have to check off daily and hourly on their safety lists. Of course the empoyees could make a place gross to eat at too I suppose. We were always told that the salad (lettuce) was one of the easiest things that could become contaminated because if its porous nature so just because youre eating a salad doesnt mean youre any safer than eating a burger.

well it depends on what you order and how often you eat fast food. most fast food (mcdonnals included) offer healthy choices as well as fatty foods. Its only common sense that if you get a grilled chicken samdwith once a week you wont get as fat as if you eat a quarter pounder with cheese every day. as far as the movie supersize me goes. the guy making that documentery ate nothing but fatty food every day. there was a woman who did the same experiment and made healthy choices and she actually lost weight. fast food doesnt make people fat. they do it to themselves and then look for someone else to blame.

Fast food is definately unsafe. unfortunately it tastes pretty damn good. For details you should check out the book "Fast Food Nation" by:Eric Schlosser. They made a movie of it as well.

If you need more convincing (which I doubt you will) watch "Super Size Me".

Although most people single out McDonald's, all fast food is bad for you.

Next time you're in a fast -food restautant, just watch the workers as they prepare the food, then you decide.
