Freeview is UK based, an advance on the normal aerial system - so it is more basic and i guess is local.

Digital is more advanced - apart from getting more worldwide channels, it comes from providers who have more viewers - so is more complicated. the signal has to further

You're right. Freeview and digital ARE the same. Anything other than the 5 basic channels (BBC 1+2, ITV1, Ch4 and Ch5) is only broadcast in digital. If your home aerial is external then it might already be suitable for freeview use. Are you thinking of freeview v cable? If so then I'd recommend freeview unless you particularly want premium channels. Some freeview boxes have a card slot so that you can subscribe to "top-up TV" and get a few extra channels on top of the basic freeview selection.

You are quite right - they are exactly the same or different words for the same thing as far as aerials are concerned Freeview is Digital
the only 2 options you have for Digital TV are terrestrial which will use an aerial like the ones you've been looking at in Argos or Satellite (sky) which uses a dish

Freeview is digital. They mean boxes which are available for other services e.g. my mum had a freeview box, but had to get a different model when she got top-up tv because there was a card she needed to insert and the standard freeview box didn't have a slot for it.
