Sometimes women continue to get their periods. It's rare, but it does happen. You can do a search for it on the internet, and there are examples. Also, when I was 5 months pregnant, had I not known, and still gotten my period, I don't think I would have been able to tell. I didn't get bigger until almost 7 1/2 months. It's possible.

Wow! I can't believe how awful they are being to her and especially people here on Yahoo! Answers. You are trying to help a friend and all people do on here is bash her when they don't even know her. That makes me so angry! When I was 5 months old I lived at a women's shelter with my mother. My dad was abusive and she was afraid he would hurt me and had NOWHERE to go and NOBODY to turn to. She wasn't on drugs and she wasn't being a slut either. A lot of women go to shelters because they have nowhere to go coming out of situations like mine. It's sad how people who live comfortable lives come on here and degrade women who are in troubled situations. Why can't they just shut-up if they can't give any constructive advise?? Your friend is in a serious situation. I cannot judge the terms by which she is pregnant now but I do know that she has a right to keep both of her babies. Do not let her get an abortion because they tell her to. From what I understand, she has done nothing wrong except miss a few required meetings since she was in the system. It does seem a little strange though that they would take a baby from her for that reason. Are you certain there wasn't any drug abuse/neglect issues that contributed to the child being removed from her custody? That is sad that the person she is living with is doing her wrong and moving in December. Is there any way possible that you could help her get a place to live or perhaps she could stay with you for a couple months? It sounds like she really needs stability and needs to get settled enough to get a job so she can provide for her unborn child and get her baby back

I didnt know I was until I was 3 months pregnant...I cant imagine being 5 months and not knowing though. My hubby and I had been trying for 4 years for a baby and I had given up by this time. I was really sick. Throwing up, tired all the time...I thought I had the flu and i was dying! I went to my Doctor and sure enough, I was pregnant. It is possible but rare!

Yes it's very possible. I have heard of overweight women that don't know the whole nine months until they go into labor! My sister in law didn't know she was pregnant until 4 months along. She had always had irregular periods so she didn't even realize that she wasn't getting hers. She thought she was just gaining a little weight because usually with your first baby you don't get very big right away. I didn't show until I was nearly 6 months pregnant. I think it's pretty common especially when you don't pay close attention to your own body or have irregular periods.

I was 2 1/2 months pregnant but didn't realize it. I thought I had the flu. Went to the doc, and found out it wasn't the flu. Convinced that it wasn't all in my head, I took a digital test. It was positive and I was stunned!! Then when I looked back on it, I had all the symptoms of pregnancy. I guess I just was in denial since I was having reproductive problems and was told by my gyno that I would never conceive without the help of fertility drugs!! Sounds crazy, but it's true!

I honestly didn't believe that it was possible not to know, but my friend has just had a baby, and because the baby was so low lieing andf against the spine, she did not show at all. She was only small as well, a size 12, she wore the same jeans through out pregnancy. So it maybe possible if you had no morning sickness.
I have had 2 children, and I personally think that you would have to be dumb not to know 5 months in! I think it would be more of a coverup that they didn't want people to know, maybe if they work casual or young and they didn't want to be judged?

Thats weird. First off, the doctor cant just tell you youre 5 months pregnant if you havent missed a period, she had to have got an ultrasound, unless she knew about it b4 hand. but it is possible not to know untill that time or even later!

Most women should have a feeling they are pregnant but in rare cases they dont. Such as they get a period, no weight gain, no morning sickness, not feeling the baby move. But still I dont understand how its possible at 5 months.

yes, it s possible, my friend had the same situation: she didn't know she s pregnant until she was 5 month! she said that she felt herself as usual without suspecting of being pregnant...and as she was 5 month, she felt "sth happenning inside her" and went to a doctor

i think that it is wishful thinking most of the time when people say that. having been pregnant, i think it would be awfully hard to miss. also, it would be very unusual to suddenly develop morning sickness at five months. morning sickness is most often a first trimester thing, and although it does sometimes persist to five months, i have never heard of it starting at five months.
i won't say that it could never happen, but i think in most cases, it is just denial.
