Movies cost from around a thousands to over hundreds of millions to make but where does the film maker get all that money from? You have to be rich to be a film maker?

Producers are your best bet. They give you some money to start off a film. Then you should also try grants for film making. There are plenty of investors out there also, you just need to write up proposals and present it to them. Also, do you ever watch a film and see logos and brands in them? Well, those are only allowed to be put into movies through the companies. So if you notice a SONY tv shown in there, chances are the SONY paid to have their products advertised. Steven Speilburg uses that a lot in his films, which is how he could afford (before he was a huge millionaire) to make a film with all of the expensive technology that he does. I hope this helps you.
