Aluminium is used to hold carbonated drinks because it is corrosion resistance. As for wraping food, it does not rust as it has a layer substance which reacts with air to produce aluminium oxide which does not rust.

Actually aluminum develops a "rust" or oxygenates rather quickly. Aluminum foil has a coating of aluminum oxide, and this coating protects the rest of the aluminum from reacting

Because of its interesting properties that result when using this unique metal - its on the left side of the stair case of the periodic table. It acts as a good insulator and conductor. It was actually derived from NASA where it was used ot conserve body heat amongst astrounauts.
