i'd like to use only windows xp components. I haven't added many since the original install but i still have my disk so i can add all nessessary windows components.
which do i have to install?
can you please try to explain how to configure this so that I can share files from different locations.
you can be as techie as you want with your answers. I'm pretty sure i'll be able to follow.
my main pc is behind a linksys router but i've already fowarded port 21 for ftp, and made my pc have a static ip address in my dhcp client table. I may be mistaken about the acronym used there. dhcp i think is what i mean. dynamic something protocol i think. and my pc is working fine, has full access to the internet and I can still access it with my laptop. only I'm using a web client to access it and it's expensive for the non-trial version

I would like both remote access and file sharing. the protocol for transfering files can be anything i don't care.

Would using remote desktop be an option or do you want specifically VPN? With VPN you will need a Client, but those are free. There are pro's and con's of each.
