im wondering about dropping the land line since i only use my cell phone, and going cable inter net . what is good and cheap , were do i look?

I have cable and I looove it! It is actually faster than DSL, but also more expensive. I pay $28 per month through Cox Communications (in San Diego, CA). I also had to buy a cable modem for, like, $50. They will rent you one though, but it's $8 a month or something like that. Cheaper in the long run to buy your own modem
But, I think you are pretty much forced to go through your local cable company. No one else has access to the lines, or something. You should give them a call for more info.

it depends on where you live! you can contact your local cable company to see if they have internet service. download speed about 50 times faster than DSL!!!!!!!!!

You might want to look into using your celphone as your hook up for internet, especially if you have a laptop and want to be completely mobile.
